Its a good starter but....
Great info. Very informative BUT... very very redundant. Could have been a lot shorter. And maybe a PDF.
A great learning tool
Truly life changing. If you want to learn how to read the Bible, and understand what you're reading, this book is for you. It is so much better to read and discover what the Lord is telling you, without someone else interpreting it for you. As you go through scripture, you will grow from discerning the word for yourself. Kay Arthur give god, practical teaching for studying the Bible. Be sure to get the workbook also.
Its more a book about how the bible is written.
It is an excellent book on the major parts of the bible. It briefly goes over inductive reading. It is meant for people who have intermediate knowledge of the bible already. it would NOT be good for a new Christian, they would be overwhelmed and confused. However for a intermediate bible student it brings out some good points. I was really hopeful that the book was going to hold-my-hand on how to do a inductive reading. point by point, no it does not. Although she does have booklets on each book of the bible for blow-by-blow of inductive reading- that's what I need.
You've got to try this way of study.
The inductive study is really amazing. You get to search for the answers. She gives you the way to study and where to find answers. And if you do one of her studies, you are asked questions to seek the answers to. She has a video for each study that you play after you are done with that lesson and she provides tons of bible verses that reference are expound on what you've studied. In the end you will find things out you never noticed before. You find truly find out and get to understand who God is and how truly amazing he is. It is truly something I will use the rest of my life.
Excellent and practical introduction to the Inductive Bible Study Method
Excellent practical treatment of the inductive Bible Study method. So much richness can be drawn from the scriptures if we know how to mine it. I've been a fan of the method since I read a Navigator's study book 30+ years ago. This up to date treatment gives ideas for how to mark various words with specific symbols to catch your eye and teaches you the Why questions you can ask that will help you go deeper. This has a companion workbook and there is now a hardcover Inductive Bible Study Bible with wide margins to keep your notes permanently. It follows the basic guidelines of Observe, Interpret and Apply. Lots of charts, worksheet and other tips. I plan to use this with my small group to teach them to go deeper in the scriptures. This is not specific to any denomination or set of teaching.. just a way to ask questions and examine the scriptures for yourself!
Jam packed with invaluable instructions for a lifetime of study.
Very detailed. Easy to read and follow. The information that you take away is priceless. I believe this will be a book that I refer to often, mainly just to keep the process fresh in my mind as I study. Love all of the Precepts materials that are out. The Lord, Teach Me To Study in 28 days is a condensed version of this book and is also amazing. I own them both. Kudos to the Precepts team!

Great study method, great deal.
I was really excited to see this book was available for those of us who are not in the new market for a bible, but looking for the instructions on the inductive bible study process. For some time I had been weighing the decision to purchase the actual Study Bible from the same publisher. It contained a full bible plus the inductive process instructions. However it was really pricey, and I already had a great bible in my collection. This book allowed me to explore the inductive study method at a more affordable price, without having to purchase the bible too.
